HCM Shotcrete assisted Dalcon Enterprises Inc. with shotcrete application related to their (MTO) Hwy 401 and Hwy 62 Underpass project. HCM completed shotcrete placement related to reinforced concrete repairs for existing girders, soffit elements, and abutment walls in both Eastbound and Westbound lanes.
HCM’s MTO certified nozzlemen used King MS-D1 dry mix shotcrete to complete about 12m3 of concrete placement over 75 patch locations during lane closures between 9 p.m and 5 a.m. A total of 8 night shift mobilizations were required to complete the work – a significant reduction in schedule compared to time required to form, pump, and strip the same repairs.
Shotcrete was ideal for this project due to the limited access to work areas and large proportion of vertical and overhead repairs. Shotcrete eliminated the need for formwork which saved time and money, allowing Dalcon to complete the project on schedule and within budget.
